Would you like to feel younger and live longer?

Right now there is a lot of information on anti-aging. What products actually improve your health and make a difference? How do you know what to believe?

At a time where there is so much hype and unproven claims it is hard to decide what to believe. This is especially true with nutritional food supplements since that industry is unregulated. Sometimes what is on the label is not even in the bottle. Sometimes the tablet does not even dissolve. And if it does dissolve, it may not dissolve at the right place so it can be easily absorbed. Many times they contain contaminants not on the label that you do not want in your body. You need to do your research.

So what do we do?
• Look for a company with extensive quality control from the time the raw materials arrive all the way through manufacturing to the finished product to ensure purity.
• Look for a company that has independent double blind placebo controlled clinical studies on their products to see if they actually work. Sometimes things can be theoretically correct and still not work.
• Look for a company with unblemished reputation who has been in business a long time.

Right now there is a lot of information on anti-aging, specifically resveratrol, a substance in red wine. But to get the advantage of that you would have to drink 100 glasses a day! Impossible.

There is a product containing Resveratrol and other polyphenol blends that impact all 4 mechanisms of cellular aging. This product is 10 times more powerful than resveratrol alone. Don’t expect to achieve the same results with all resveratrol products out there.

We know that HFHC (high fat, high carbohydrate diets) induce oxidative and inflammatory stress, and also produce an increase in plasma endotoxin concentrations. The increase release
of “free radicals” induce inflammatory damage that contributes to vascular inflammation, plaque buildup in the arteries, increased blood pressure, and a tendency toward obesity.

A clinical study performed by scientists at State University of New York at Buffalo, measured the activity levels of Nrf2 which is the coordinator of antioxidant protection within every cell in your body. The Nrf2 activity was significantly depressed in the placebo group, while the Vivix group demonstrated dramatic increase in Nrf2 activity. This helps counteract the bad effects of HFHC diet.

Researchers also measured and tracked other key blood markers and observed that HFHC meals also:
• Evoke an increase in a protein that interferes with insulin and fat metabolism causing the body to store rather than burn fat.
• depress immune function.
• depress the Nrf2 system that prevents oxidative damage.

Did you see the Oscar-nominated movie Supersize Me? You will recall that Morgan Spurlock’s health declined precipitously during the month that he lived on fast food. These meals depress immune function, cause arterial constriction, deposed plaque in the arteries, and increased cortisol production, leading to stress and accelerated aging.

Do you want to protect yourself from these side effects?

The Nrf2 defense system manages Phase II detoxification within the liver. If anything you want to encourage liver detox with a product that has a positive impact on the Nrf2 gene.

Disruption of the Nrf2 gene can also lead to severe airway inflammation created by allergens. Nrf2 has also just been found to inhibit the development of emphysema by researchers at Johns Hopkin’s School of Public Health. They also demonstrated how Nrf2 protects against developing pulmonary fibroses, a frequently fatal lung disease.

Nrf2 system has recently been found to be associated with reduced risk of Parkinson’s and Huntington’s disease, lung cancer, and other inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. It also protects against pathologies in numerous organs, including liver, intestine, lung, skin, and nervous system.

When this product was introduced in 2008, scientists knew it could repair cell damage, thus reducing the risk of heart disease, diabetes, and perhaps neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s. This new study suggests that because it stimulates the Nrf2 system, it may have even more profound health benefits.

Obviously we want to eat a perfect diet and avoid all toxins, but that can be impossible. But there are still ways to protect yourself.
