For easy eaters, it doesn’t matter what food to eat because they could eat anything. Unfortunately not all food are safe during pregnancy and having some basic understanding of what not to eat is equally important as understanding what to eat.
When I was pregnant, my mother-in-law was very strict in choosing what food I should eat and what not. Basically, we should eat a variety of food to avoid lacking any necessary nutrients for the body, but there are some food we should limit the intake or even abandon completely.
Firstly, we should not eat liver or liver products like pate. Though containing iron (a good nutrient), liver is the place to store residue of food ingested, it also contain vitamin A which is not good for the fetus. Added to that, anything from inside the body of livestock is better be avoided as some toxic substance still remain there and liver is the biggest store of toxic substance found in the body!
For drinks, I am not an addict in alcohol so refraining from drinking wine and beer is easy, though in some rare occasion I still had. I guess it should not be a problem if we don’t take the excessive amount and don’t have it on regular basis. If you attached to anything like cigarettes, alcohol before pregnancy, you definitely should stop.
If any of your family members smoke, that person should not be in contact with you while doing so as the smoke is harmful to you and your baby. Interestingly, I have witnessed many cases in which the husbands, who were heavy cigarette smokers, completely quit smoking on the news of the baby. All in all, nothing could generate love and desire as strong as those for a baby so if you have a will, then nothing is impossible. You could do that and persuade others to follow by only persistently and seriously respect the rules YOURSELF first.
